Join the Guild for a Lunch at Triplett Tech’s Culinary Arts Center

Following a successful luncheon last January at Triplett Tech in Mt. Jackson, the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival Guild will be returning to the school again for another fabulous gourmet experience.

The Guild luncheon will take place Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018.  Chef A. Paje Cross, of the school’s Culinary Arts Center, will host the event, and her students will prepare the meal under her direction. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served at noon. The cost is $20 and Guild members are invited to bring guests.

Due to security requirements at the school, the reservation check-in table will be inside the main entrance. Guild members and their guests will be required to wear nametags at all times while in the building.

After lunch, Chef Cross will discuss the culinary arts program, which has placed many students in local eateries while others have gone on to culinary schools, including the acclaimed Culinary Institute of America. An overview will also be given of Triplett Tech’s other programs for 16- to 18-year-olds from the county’s three high schools, which include automobile repair, electrical work, masonry, and cosmetology. Triplett Tech is also the site of the Governor’s School for advanced students from Page, Rockingham and Shenandoah counties. The Principal of the Governor’s School will also speak to lunch attendees about the school.

The meal, prepared by students, will begin with a served roast carrot and fennel soup; and a served mixed green salad with sliced oranges, feta, pomegranate seeds and pistachio salad with vinaigrette. The buffet will feature sliced roast beef au jus with horseradish cream sauce; and cranberry brown sugar glazed pork loin. Side dishes of potato trio au gratin; glazed carrots; and sauteed asparagus are included. Chef’s dessert will be cheesecake with raspberry coulis and shaved chocolate garnish. Housemade dinner rolls and butter, iced tea, coffee and water will complete the meal.

In keeping with Guild practice, a gratuity basket will be available in support of the Culinary Arts program at Triplett.
