Legendary folk artist Arlo Guthrie kicks off SVMF’s Wayback Weekend celebration! An artist of international stature, Guthrie is best known for his colorful storytelling and classic folk hits of the ‘60s and ‘70s, including “Alice’s Restaurant,” and “City of New Orleans.”

Wayback Weekend continues the following evening with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, rocking out with songs marking the 50th anniversary of the amazing musical year of 1967!

In addition to songs from the Beatles’ landmark album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” the PSO will feature the music of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who and many other artists who will be forever tied to The Summer of Love, the famous San Francisco gathering of young people who wore flowers in their hair and promoted peace and love during the summer of ’67.

July 28: Pure Prairie League and Poco — Two great country rock bands in one night! Pure Prairie League is best known for the early ’70s hit “Amie,” plus other timeless favorites including “Early Morning Riser,” “Two Lane Highway,” and  “Falling in and out of Love.” Still going strong since the late ’60s, Poco will bring back memories with their many hits throughout the decades, including “Crazy Love,” “Heart of the Night,” “Call it Love,” plus many others.
