Best known for his colorful story-telling and timeless folk hits of the 1960s and 70s, Arlo Guthrie kick off the Wayback Weekend Celebration. Then the celebration continues the following evening with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra as they rock out with songs commemorating The Summer of Love’s 50th anniversary — when tens of thousands of hippies flocked to Haight-Asbury in the summer of 1967 to promote peace, love and the counterculture. The orchestra will also perform songs from the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Magical Mystery Tour,” two of the Beatles’ most famous albums released that year.
