Singer/songwriter and Woodstock native Brent Funkhouser will be the opening act for An Evening with Judy Collins at Shenandoah Valley Music Festival on Aug. 31.

Funkhouser is a fixture on the Shenandoah Valley music scene and performs regularly at numerous festivals and venues throughout the region. He has opened for and shared stages with many acts, including award-winning country singer-songwriter Phil Vassar and Jounce, a post-punk rock band fronted by actor Danny Tamberelli, best known for his roles in children’s shows “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” “The Magic School Bus,” and Nickelodeon’s “All That,” among others. Funkhouser has also toured throughout Virginia, Washington, D.C., eastern Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Philadelphia and New York City.

Building a reputation for beautiful songs in the Americana tradition, Funkhouser is rapidly expanding his audience while developing his collection of original songs. His fourth release “Shooting A Horse” (2018), is observant, romantic, and at times political, delivered in a style that showcases his multi-instrumental talent.

In October, Funkhouser will release his next EP “Goodnight Dear Catherine.” For more on this artist, go to www.brentfunkhousermusic.com or  www.facebook.com/brentfunkhousermusic.
